Grown-Up Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Equipment

Ingredients

Grown-Up Ham & Cheese

  • 2 pcs specialty bread (I love wheat cottage bread)
  • butter
  • 2 deli ham
  • 3 slices cheese (any variations) I used muenster & havarti
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 1 handful arugula lettuce
  • black pepper

Grown-Up BLT

  • 2 pcs specialty bread (I love wheat cottage bread)
  • butter
  • mayonnaise
  • 2 pcs cooked & crisp bacon
  • 3 pcs cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 1 handful arugula lettuce

Instructions

Grown-Up Ham & Cheese

  • Place 2 pieces of cheese on top of 1 piece of bread. Top with ham, lettuce, tomato, black pepper, and 1 more slice of cheese. Butter 2nd piece of bread and place butter side up on sandwich.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Allow 1 TBS butter to melt and come to a sizzle. Place sandwich into skillet with buttered bread side up. Let sit for 2-3 minutes until bottom bread is golden brown. Flip over sandwich and cook an additional 2-3 minutes until sandwich is golden brown on bottom. Place spatula on sandwich and press down to flatten sandwich somewhat.
  • Remove from skillet and enjoy.

Grown-Up BLT

  • Spread mayonnaise on one piece of bread. Place 2 pieces of cheese on top of bread with the mayo on it. Place 2 pieces of cooked and crisp bacon on top of the cheese. Top with arugula, tomatoes, black pepper, and another slice of cheese. Butter 2nd piece of bread and place butter side up on sandwich.
