Hash Brown Potato & Ground Beef One Skillet Meal
30 Minute Meal with Delicious Flavors all cooked in One Skillet for an Easy Weeknight Meal
Equipment
- large skillet
Ingredients
- 1 – 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 3 TBS butter
- 3 TBS all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 (10oz) can french onion soup (you can substitute beef broth)
- 1 (10oz) can cream of soup (celery, chicken or mushroom) I like to use the cream of celery.)
- 20 oz frozen o'brien style hash brown potatoes, thawed
- 8 oz shredded cheese (cheddar, cheddar jack, or your favorite) DIVIDED
- garnish with fresh or dried parsley.
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium high heat break up and brown ground beef until no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
- Season with salt, black pepper and garlic powder.
- Mix butter and flour into ground beef until butter melts and flour is well incorporated. Cook for 1 minute to cook the raw taste out of the flour.
- Stir in milk, french onion soup, and cream of soup until well combined.
- Add in O'brien style potatoes and mix well.
- Stir in 4oz shredded cheese.
- Turn burner down to a medium/medium low. Place lid on and cook 10 minutes. (Every few minutes take lid off and stir to make sure potatoes are not sticking to bottom of skillet.)
- After 10 minutes, potatoes should be heated through and mixture should be bubbly. Turn off burner. Sprinkle remaining 4oz of cheese over mixture, place lid on to allow cheese to melt. Sprinkle with dried or fresh parsley. Enjoy.
Living up to your motto! Really simple , easy, and delicious!
Thank you.
I made this tonight and loved it. It has great flavor. I did have to cook it longer to get the hash browns cooked. I will make it again.
That’s wonderful! Glad you liked it.
