Talk about a favorite at our house. A definite fun way to mash up two delicious sandwiches. All the flavors of both on one bun.
Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 2 TBS butter
- 1 TBS cooking oil
- 1 bell pepper diced
- 1 onion diced
- salt & pepper to taste
- 10 oz beef broth
- 1 TBS corn starch
- 2 TBS ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 5 slices provolone cheese
- our favorite hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt butter & add cooking oil over medium high heat. Add diced onion and peppers. Sautee until slightly softened.
- Add the brown beef and smash into the peppers and onions. Cook until meat gets alittle crisp like on ends. Flip meat over and smash again. Cook until crisp on ends. Break meat apart. Drain excess grease out of skillet.
- In a small bowl, mix beef broth and corn starch together. Pour into cooked beef & stir. Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper to taste.
- Simmer a few minutes to thicken.
- Turn off heat. Place cheese slices all over the meat to cover. Place lid on to melt cheese.
- (I like to butter the buns and slightly toast them in a skillet or in oven.)
- Serve the cheesesteak sloppy joes on the hamburger buns. Enjoy with french fries if desired.
