Equipment

  • large deep skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 TBS toasted sesame oil (or other cooking oil)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced thin
  • 1 green pepper, sliced thin
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced thin
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 small head of cabbage, sliced thin or 1/2 large cabbage
  • 2 TBS corn starch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium high heat add 2 TBS toasted sesame oil or other cooking oil. Stir in bell peppers and cook until lightly charred and softened. Add in onion and cook until softened.
  • Add in ground beef and cook until no longer pink. Don't over "break up the meat". This will give it more of a steak texture for this dish.
  • Drain off any excess grease, if needed.
  • Stir in beef broth, black pepper, soy sauce, and ginger. Add in shredded cabbage a little at a time to start coating it with the sauce. Once all added and mixed together, place lid on skillet and cook for 5-8 minutes until cabbage has softened down to your liking.
  • Mix together corn starch and water. Pour mixture into the cabbage mix and stir to thicken sauce. Turn heat off.
  • Serve over white or other type of rice.
