Equipment

  • large mixing bowl (safe for microwave)
  • 8 x 8 baking dish
  • parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 1 (15.25oz) box cake mix (I used devils food flavor)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, cut into 8 pats
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 – 1 cup chocolate chips (or other favorite add ins or toppings)

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl that is microwave safe, pour in 1 box of cake mix in the powdered form. Add in 2 cups of powdered sugar. Whisk together to combine well.
  • Place the pats of butter all over the dry mixture. Pour the milk over the dry mixture. DO NOT MIX.
  • Place in microwave on high heat for 2 minutes. Remove from microwave carefully (as the sides of bowl will be hot). Using a wooden spoon mix carefully until most of mixture is combined.
  • Place back in microwave for 1 minute. Remove and using the wooden spoon finish mixing until all powder cake mix and powdered sugar is combined. Mixture will be crumbly, but will hold together. Add in chocolate chips or nuts, if desired and stir to combine. Mixture will be dense.
  • Place mixture into an 8 x 8 baking dish lightly sprayed or lined with parchment paper. Using a piece of plastic wrap, press the mixture as tightly as you can and evenly in dish to form a solid base.
  • If adding toppings, go ahead and sprinkle on top and using plastic wrap press toppings into fudge batter to hold them in.
  • Cover and place in refrigerator for 2-4 hours until firm.
  • Using a large sharp knife cut your desired shapes. Store in an air tight container.
