French Onion Beef & Cheese Casserole

Equipment

  • cheese grater
  • measuring spoons
  • 9 x 13 baking dish

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 16 oz uncooked penne pasta
  • 1 (10.5oz) can cream of celery soup
  • 1 (10.5oz) can French Onion soup
  • 1 cup French's Fried Onions
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp onion powder
  • dried parsley (garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 F degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add 1/2 TBS salt. Add pasta and cook until al dente per directions on package. Drain pasta and set aside in same pot.
  • In a large skillet break up and brown ground beef until no longer pink. Add in diced onion and cook until onions are softened. Drain excess grease from skillet.
  • Season cooked ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir in both cans of soup and 1/2 of the shredded cheese.
  • Pour meat mixture into the pot of cooked drained pasta and stir to combine.
  • Pour meat & pasta mixture into prepared baking dish and smooth evenly.
  • Top with remaining shredded cheese and top with fried onions.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and casserole is heated through. Top with parsley.
