Equipment
- sheet pan lined with parchment
- small microwave safe bowl
- measuring spoons
- cutting board
- serrated knife
- spatula & pastry brush
Ingredients
For this recipe I only use 6 of the rolls. You can double up this recipe if feeding a group.
- 1/2 (12 ct) package King's Hawaiian Rolls (only use 6)
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1/4 – 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 TBS dried parsley
- american cheese slices or other types of melting cheese slices
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Fit a piece of parchment paper on a standard size sheet pan.
- Place rolls on a cutting board & separate them into 12 rolls by using a serrated knife to cut them individually.NOTE: I only use 6 of the rolls for this recipe and freeze the other 6 for a later recipe.
- Cut each roll into 3 slices from top to bottom.
- In a small microwave safe bowl melt one stick of butter. Mix in garlic powder & dried parsley.
- Using pastry brush, spread melted butter on one side of 9 of the slices of rolls. Place the butter side of roll down on the parchment lined sheet pan.NOTE: use only 1/2 of the melted butter mixture for these 9 slices.
- Take a slice of cheese and fold in half then fold again to make a small square. Place on top of the roll slice on sheet pan.NOTE: if using shredded cheese, place a mound of cheese on top.
- Using the remaining melted butter, spread on the remaining 9 slices of rolls and place butter side up on the cheese topped rolls on sheet pan.
- Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes. Take out of oven and flip over the sandwiches. Bake for another 10 minutes or until sandwiches are golden and have crispy edges.
- Best enjoyed with your favorite bowl of soup or pair with a delicious sandwich side dish.
